In a recent interview for ZeBloc, Paul Robinson told us about his upcoming movie, Uncharted Lines. The movie was released a few months ago and I finally just watched it.
This is a really good bouldering movie presenting several bouldering areas, some of them being some of the most remote and unknown.
Few unknown areas, beautifull landscapes, really good editing, cool music, and efficient boulderers (Paul Robinson of course, but also Jimmy Webb, Niccolo Ceria, Chris Sharma, Daniel Woods…): this is Uncharted Lines.
The movie starts with an epic defeat: Paul had identified on Google some huge chaos in Siberia, like the one he uses to climb on in Colorado, and wanted to check them out. But, once in the area, snowfalls prevent him from getting to the boulders.
He then decides to flee to the South of the United States and its famous sandstone (check the HP40 or LRC articles out). This area really is amazing and, with Jimmy Webb and Niccolo Ceria, they are going to do some first ascents, like the amazing prow of Ebano (V10 /7c+).
He then flies to the cool spanish area of Alcaniz. Well, we would not have missed Chris Sharma’s interview as we already know, and have heard so many times, that climbing is cool because it gives us the oportunity to meet plenty of people having one common language : climbing… But here again, beautifull images of typical spanish landscapes.
And then comes the amazing Chimanimani area in Zimbabwe. A 2 hours walk takes you to the paradise of bouldering, lost in the mountains. And right in the middle of the boulders, a pretty shelter without electricity. Well, I wish I could go there tomorrow!
Uncharted Lines ends with a pile of biceps crouching some really nice boulders in the heart of Colorado: Paul Robinson, Jimmy Webb, Daniel Woods and a few others). Fortunately, the photogenic Meagan Martin brings some softness while crushing the nice joli Belly of the Beast (V10/7c+).
As a conclusion, I really like this movie!
To check it out, go to Uncharted Lines, where you will be able to download it for 14€95.
